The Ordinary: How I Care For My Skin.

One thing I have gotten into recently slightly more than usual is skincare. There is something about putting on a range of different skincare products in the morning and evening, that makes me feel like I'm accomplished and have everything a little more together than I actually do. And on top of the few minutes of mental content, it does do my skin a few wonders as well.

I've been seeing The Ordinary all over Instagram, and on those pop up Cult Beauty adverts for maybe the last year, and it's been one of those things I've always wanted to try, but just haven't. My friend gave me a message one day and told me she wanted to buy some of their products, so we both took to the task of researching what was the best for each of our skin types, and that is how I brought my first product from the brand.

Left to Right: Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA ( 100ml ), Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG ( 30ml ), Amino Acids + B5, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ( 60ml ), 100% Plant-Derived Squalane, High Adherence Silicone Primer ( 30ml )

All the products I use are cruelty free, nut free and vegan.

As The Ordinary stock many different products I was originally completely new to, I originally brought one of their moisturising creams 'Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA' and luckily there were two bottles of this in stock. Just to put out there, certain Ordinary products are REALLY hard to get your hands on, especially in-store, so it can sometimes take a while to find what you are looking for. This is much like your usual face cream, and is it much better than your standard Nivea cream? Probably not. However, the price is relatively low, and is a great thick cream for all skin types. I prefer to use this a night, right after cleansing my face.

The next Ordinary product I currently use is Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG , and this is by far my favourite skincare product I have tried. I have always hated the dark circles under my eyes, and they have been a prominent art of my face for as long as I can remember. This product is a thick oil solution, and I've been using one drop under each eye, both morning and night, and with consistent use this helps to de-puff and lighten my under-eye circles. This is one of the products I never fail to apply, and will re purchase again.

Amino Acids + B5. This is one of the products I hadn't heard much about, but is one of the easier ones to get your hands on, so when I saw this, and did a little research about what it does, I thought why not? Have you ever just felt like you needed to put water on your face? Actually typing that out now I seem really strange I know. But sometimes I get that feeling and this it the product I actually need. It is very much like a concentrated water that absorbs into your face almost immediately. This is really refreshing, and I like to wear this on a no makeup day to work, just to hydrate my skin, without the feeling of a heavy moisturiser. Its also great because it gives an instant natural glow to the skin, and helps maintain healthy skin.

The product that is probably the most popular from The Ordinary, the one that always sold out, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. This has been raved about in every beauty and style magazine you can think of, being one of the cheapest hyaluronic acids to reach the market. This also has quite a waterery texture, however slightly thicker than the Amino Acids + B5, and aims to hydrate, and retain moisture in the skin, to make it look more healthy and plump. Im still just trying this out at the moment, but it feels lovely on my skin, both day and night.

100% Plant-Derived Squalane, another one of their products that is slightly easier to find. This is quite a thick oil, that is used for hydration, and honestly not my favourite thing ever. I wouldn't dream of using this near my nose, but a drop or two on my cheekbones and jawline occasionally is helpful to stop the skin drying out.

And last but not least, kinda cheating with this one because it isn't technically skincare, but the High Adherence Silicone Primer. I needed a new primer as I go through them quite quickly, and I wanted a cheaper one for everyday use, and while looking for some of the other products, I discovered this. As the name explains it's a silicone based primer, and does feel quite greasy on first impression, but it doesn't sink into the skin at all and covers up pore nicely. Where as I prefer a more moisturising primer over the rest of the face, this is perfect in the troublesome areas, so that foundation sit on the skin smoothly.

I will link everything I've spoken about below, incase you want to read a lil more professional point of view, or try them out for yourself!!
